About Tom

Tom is a self-described Renaissance man having studied biology, medicine, music, business, cuisine, system dynamics, Japanese and French. He enjoys learning, is a voracious reader and doesn’t own a television.

With French-Canadian roots, Tom has had a long interest in the French language and culture heightened by personal and business travel and a global career.

He has led tours to France for family and friends and, fulfilling a long-held dream, finally moved from the US in February 2019 to the Languedoc region of southwest France.

In his new-found home, Tom is pursuing his passion for writing and hence this blog. There is much to see and experience in this part of the world and the Medieval history in particular is extensive.

In addition to reporting his local travels and observations on local history and the French way of life, Tom intends to also wax philosophical on topics of personal interest – the luxury of aging and acquired wisdom via experience.
